This site has a wealth of information about the 8th Georgia Infantry. The 8th Georgia fought during the cival war in the eastern theater in Longstreet's I Corps, participating in engatements from First Manassas to Appomattox (which included a side trip to Georgia in 1863 as part of Hood's division in the Battle of Chickamauga). They saw as much action as any unit on either side.
